Memory and Identity

Magical Costumbrismo

Master Bautizta succeeded in transforming Colombia’s cultural richness into his own language of colors, forms, and textures. His proposal, called Magical Costumbrismo, goes beyond visual representation — it is a portal to the very essence of our identity. Magical Costumbrismo, va más allá de la representación visual: es un portal hacia la esencia de nuestra identidad.

This style weaves together the portrayal of Colombia’s traditional practices, crafts, and historical materialities with the knowledge, worldviews, and intangible aspects that give symbolic strength to our culture. His work combines the delicacy of technique with the rigor of deep research, always guided by respect for what is portrayed.

In every stroke beats our history, the vitality of our traditions, and the diversity of our roots. Bautizta’s Magical Costumbrismo not only documents but celebrates — it is a legacy that invites us to recognize who we are and to value the cultural richness that defines us as Colombians.

Heritages

The muralism of Maestro Bautizta is an open window to Colombia's cultural richness, a tribute to the collective memory and the cultural heritage passed down through generations. His work is a record of the identity of a country that resists losing its essence in a globalized world of blurred identities. It is an enchantment with popular culture, folklore, and the stories woven into the streets and roads, stories that dwell in our everyday lives. Muralism is a way to make memory present and to reconstruct the past, allowing us to understand a present that continues to vibrate with the diversity and cultural wealth of Colombia.

Stages

The search to exalt and safeguard the historical and cultural memory of his country led Master Bautizta to build heritage from multiple fronts. One of these was the articulation with other artistic practices, creating scenography to accompany performing arts, parades, and different types of stage productions within the framework of reference festivals of heritage and cultural memory. His stages and scenography are windows that open up to the public the opportunity to delve into the richness of the history and customs of his land.
