MAESTRO
of Colombian heritage
Gustavo Enrique Bautista López (1953–2017), a folklorist and muralist from Tolima, made art a way to exalt Colombia’s identity and folklore. His costumbrista style was born from a deep love for his roots, and with every stroke he documented traditions, memories, and lived realities. More than a painter, he was a chronicler of our origins: he studied, lived, and celebrated the land, leaving a legacy that speaks from the depths of his heart.
Magical Costumbrismo
Master Bautizta shaped Magical Costumbrismo as an artistic approach that unites folklore, culture, and identity. His work, the result of research and sensitivity, preserves traditions, roots, and symbols that become living traces of our history. More than mere images, they are windows that safeguard cultural richness and invite us to proudly recognize ourselves as Colombians.

His art —rooted in Colombia’s collective memory— remains alive through our initiatives that protect, share, and celebrate its cultural and folkloric value. Through Correo del Arte, we continue his path, giving life to projects that weave tradition, identity, and hope, so that his legacy keeps illuminating families and the memory of all Colombians.
